The 126th Melrose Sevens takes place on the 9th of April 2016 at the Greenyards here in Melrose. And in fact our town of Melrose takes on a carnival atmosphere with the event being considered a main social date in the sporting calendar. It really is a great day out!
This year welcomes back many Borders and Scottish clubs including Gala, Hawick, Jedforest, Kelso, Peebles, Ayr, Boroughmuir, Currie, Heriots, Watsonians, Aberdeen Rugby, Howe of Fife, Glasgow Hawks, Marr Rugby, Edinburgh Academicals, Stewart’s Melville, Stirling County and of course the hosts Melrose.
International and guest sides taking part this year are from Italy, France, Belgium and Edinburgh Rugby. The draw for the Melrose Sevens will be made in the Clubrooms at the Greenyards (date TBC) – so watch this space or see the Melrose Sevens website for more detail.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the Melrose Sevens VETS tournament will not take place this year (2016) – it is hoped to re-introduce the event next year (2017).
